About José
José Antonio Figueroa Sánchez is a creative director, makeup artist, and storyteller who uses beauty and emotional literacy to help people feel seen. He has spent more than twenty years working across television, editorial, and media production, bringing a mix of artistry, intuition, and cultural perspective to every project, with a focus on truth, visibility, and the systems that shape how we are seen.
José is the founder of Beauty Misfits, a creative studio that blends beauty, identity, and narrative strategy. He is known for helping people and brands express their truth with clarity, especially in spaces where that truth is often minimized or overlooked. His work is rooted in the belief that beauty is not decoration. Beauty is information. Beauty is language.
He is currently developing The Gentle Hands Society, a community-centered care project for people navigating healing, identity, and the long-term effects of growing up in survival mode. Through workshops, writing, and hands-on creative practices, the project explores healing, agency, and self-understanding, offering tools for people to reconnect with themselves at their own pace.
His work is shaped by his experience as a queer Latino artist, his background in television and live broadcast, and his commitment to exploring how power, identity, and storytelling intersect. He creates spaces where people can explore who they are, name what they carry, and step into the version of themselves they have been waiting to become.
José builds worlds that feel honest, warm, and quietly rebellious. His mission is simple. Help people trust their voice, honor their story, and move through the world with gentler hands.
